Course Objectives: 

  • Communicate using single word phrases.
  • Communicate using a variety of words and phrases.
  • Identify familiar vocabulary and phrases in Spanish to reinforce prior knowledge in other content areas.
  • Identify practices, products, and perspectives of various Spanish-speaking cultures.
  • Identify practices and products associated with Spanish-speaking cultures.
  • Identify false cognates.
  • Communicate using familiar words and phrases. 
  • Translate words that describe family, friends, and physical characteristics.
  • Identify a few words and phrases in written form. 
  • Identify some familiar words and phrases in spoken conversations.
  • Identify words related to greetings, introductions, school, and other activities, and calendar.
  • Present information orally on familiar topics using learned phrases and simple sentences.
  • Write practiced phrases.
  • Write a short message using simple sentences.
  • Write some familiar words or phrases.
  • Present information orally about self and other familiar topics using single words or practiced phrases.
  • Present information orally on familiar topics using a variety of words, phrases, and practiced expressions.
