Course Objectives:

  • Compose and decompose numbers using place value, models, expanded form, and standard form.
  • Read and write numbers using standard form, expanded form, and word form.
  • Identify places and values of digits in numbers up to 100,000.
  • Represent numbers on a number line between two consecutive tens, hundreds, thousands, or ten thousands.
  • Round numbers less than 1,000 to the nearest ten or hundred.
  • Compare and order numbers less than 100,00 using a number line, place value, or math sentences.
  • Identify whether solutions are reasonable using mental math, estimation, and rounding.
  • Identify, extend, and create patterns of numbers using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
  • Add and subtract numbers less than 1,000 using place value, properties, and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
  • Solve one- and two-step word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
  • Model multiplication and division as groups with the same number of items using arrays, strip diagrams, number lines, skip counting, and equations.
  • Identify multiplication as comparing numbers.
  • Multiply and divide numbers using different methods including visual models, multiplication facts, the relationship between multiplication and division, and multiplication or division equations.
  • Find missing numbers in multiplication or division problems using fact family equations.
  • Identify whether equations are true or false.
  • Identify, classify, and draw quadrilaterals and special types of quadrilaterals by their attributes.
  • Find the areas of rectangles using unit squares or a formula.
  • Solve problems related to measurements, including areas, liquid volumes, and object masses.
  • Identify and estimate liquid volumes and object masses using appropriate units and measuring tools.
  • Solve problems using data shown in different displays, including frequency tables, scaled bar graphs, and scaled picture graphs.
  • Determine the value of a group of coins and bills.
