Semester 2 begins: January 11, 2021

Objective: To increase basic reading and/or math fluency and proficiency to reach grade-level competency.

Overview:  These courses will focus on understanding the common core/state standards. The Reading courses will focus on literature and informational text, conventions of standard English, and vocabulary skills. The Math courses will focus on operations and algebraic thinking, numbers and operations, measurements and data, geometry, and expressions and equations. Students will learn to think and analyze about literary and informational texts and become mathematically minded. They are expected to complete assigned tasks for mastery. For this reason, it is important that they attend class regularly, arrive to class on time, and come to class prepared to participate with the assigned printed worksheets and working microphones.

Curriculum and required materials:  Binder, a ream of copy paper for daily material you will print, pencil, correcting pen, working headset with microphone, and an active iReady account.

*You are not required to purchase any materials for this course but are expected to download e-files (PDFs) to either print and place it into a binder or work from a notebook. If you are going to use a notebook, each assignment should have the date and assignment title. This will be organized for your easy reference and ES checks.

Technology Requirements: Students must have reliable internet access and a headset with microphone. Homework will be completed and submitted to your ES or through iReady.

Parent Responsibilities:

*PLEASE NOTE: Assignments are subject to change. The pacing and assignments of this course will greatly depend on student needs as it is a personalized intervention program.  Refer to the homepage each week for up-to-date and detailed assignments.

Adding outcomes to the syllabus per level, but that would be individualized to each Level so that ESs and parents can see what general concepts are covered in each level. Here's an example of what that might look like:

Reading Course Outcomes:  Students will 1) recall key ideas and details; 2) use craft and structure, and 3) use integration of knowledge and ideas in informational text and literature; and 4) acquire vocabulary and use the conventions of standard English usage, grammar, and mechanics.

Math Course Outcomes: Students will 1) understand the number system and algebraic thinking; 2) use ratios and operational thinking; 3) solve problems using measurement and data; 4) classify and comparing geometric objects, and 5) analyze functions and equations.
