AP Language & Composition Support

Although the focus for this class is AP Language, students enrolled in AP Literature may also attend and receive support here.

Class Time: 1-2 PM

Office Hours: Tuesdays, 2-3 PM

 

Class Dates

  • Semester 1 - First Class Meeting, Tuesday, August 17, 2021
    • Last Day to Add or Drop is 9/3/21 (Students will be charged the full price of the course if dropping the class after this deadline.)
  • Semester 2 - First Class Meeting, Tuesday, January 4, 2022 
    • Last Day to Add or Drop is 1/14/22 (Students will be charged the full price of the course         if dropping the class after this deadline.)

 

Instructor Information

I have worked for Connecting Waters Charter School for 20 years. For most of those 20 years I have been the English Department Chair/English Specialist. I have taught online classes for more than 10 years, including English 7, 8, a-g English 9, Ap Literature & Composition and AP Language and Composition, My Access Writing, and Expository Reading & Writing. I am also a mentor for the schools Speech & Debate Club and the newly formed Creative Writing Club. I help coordinate the annual Spelling Bee.     

 

Communication

Communication between students & instructor will be made using the Canvas email feature. Instructor will respond to student emails within 24 hours.

CWCS’s AP Language & Composition Support offers students the opportunity to receive one-on-one & group feedback for their AP Language & Composition course. 

 

Course Overview

Students can receive support for all aspects of AP Language or AP Literature “as they encounter rigorous coursework,” including understanding prompts, essay genres & original writing, testing, AP rescources, multiple choice questions, and homework help.  

 

Prerequisites  

Students must be enrolled in an AP Language & Composition or AP Literature & Composition course.                                                                                                                                     

Curriculum  

The student’s AP course.

 

Materials 

  • Working external headset with mic or computer mic (computer speakers may not work successfully with the Canvas setup). Class is much more engaging if students can talk in class using their mic. Suggested:  Office Depot Logitech Clear-Chat

Grading

This is a tutoring / support class. No grade is given. There is no final.
